Drs. Jim and Paula Halvorson moved to Black Mountain in the spring of 2000 and established Halvorson Chiropractic Clinic. They worked within the Swannanoa Valley Medical Center for 8 years. In the summer of 2008, the Halvorsons moved their clinic into the Lakey Creek Health Center next to Cheshire Health and Fitness one mile south of Black Mountain on Highway 9.

In 2010, in addition to having the Black Mountain clinic, Dr. Jim became the staff chiropractor for Parkway Medical Group in Asheville. One of Dr. Halvorson's goals is to work with medical doctors to offer evidence-based, patient-centered, coordinated and collaborative spine care. Before moving to Black Mountain, Dr. Halvorson was the staff chiropractor for Harriman Jones Medical Group in Long Beach, California from 1989-2000.
